It was Easter, so we all gathered in a field to pick up fake eggs that we pretended were put there by a bunny who cannot even know how to lay eggs because that is what a chicken does and besides what does that have to do with anything?
Zoe was cool with it anyway.
See?
So, yeah …
… eggs.
There’s one. Can’t miss it.
Dad says he never cranks the saturation like this, but if CS4 has a “plastic eggs” settting, he’s going to use it.
Part of Easter is getting dressed up and eating foods with Elisha.
These balloons are all over the place because it was Dad’s birthday on Easter–and it was Zoe’s birthday just four days before that.
SURPRISE CHEEK PINCH!
Dad says this seems a bit posed for his tastes.
Zoe! Quit posing!
Better.
Ba ha ha ha ha!
Zoe can count on one hand the number of times she’s gathered bunny eggs in a field.
I don’t think this holiday makes any sense at all …
… but you know, I guess that makes it just like all the others.
Ahh … I feel better.

Back on the carouself! (Dad says to warn you that he’s “ripping through these so he can knock out the posts and keep people from getting antsy.”)
This is a fencepost.
These birds pretty much know me by now.
This one is named Sally.
Dad tries to keep it a secret, but he sure loves his cubs.
Hello, mandrill.
Excuse me, mandrill–did you see that duck over there?
It’s a pretty weird duck …
… who stands on only one leg.
See?
THIS IS MY FIRST-EVER ZOO PHOTO! I tried to capture Porky’s pointiness.
This is pretty much the opposite.
This is even more so.
See you next time!

Aunt Ellen is visiting my fine square state, so we all went to the Butterfly Pavilion and lunch today.
Dad says that “short lighting” is flattering for those with ample cheeks.
Whatever! I have carrots on my face!
Yeah, this is pretty much what usually happens when Ellen’s around.
Big sis was impressively patient at lunch …
… especially for a not-quite-three-year-old.
Ellen’s friend Julie came to Butterflytown with us.
Riley showed her the water fountains, which I have to admit are pretty great.
Dad did his usual thing.
You know the drill.
Riley started out throwing like this …
… but it didn’t take long for her to iron out her mechanics.
Rosie the tarantula is pretty much Riley’s favorite buddy in Westminster.
I wonder how long it will take Riley to realize that people have their own Rosies as pets. HEY MOM!
Yep–Riley had fun with Aunt Ellen today, avoided most of the likely trouble spots, and even picked out a surprise birthday gift for Dad (which she told him is a dinosaur).

We finally got to go to the Butterfly Pavilion again today.
A red-footed tortoise lives there! Some nice lady was asking me questions about tortie.
Ummm …
See …
Hey look! A butterfly!
Phew.
