It’s Halloween, so … BOO!
We went to Boo at the Zoo, which meant I got to try to feed the lorikeets …
… which meant I got to wash my hands in my favorite sink!
Zoe did her part in Lorikeet World by pretending to be a tree so the ‘keets would land on her.
Even though her tree costume–made by Beach Grandma, just like my own beautiful butterfly costume–was very lifelike …
Not one lorikeet landed on little sis.
I did get to walk around and get candy, though.
See?
Then I made spider cookies with super-pink frosting.
NOM!
After dinner, it was time for trick or treat!
This is our neighbor Mike being terrified by the tree, butterfly, and Clara-tiger that appeared at his door.

Behold: more photos of us from yet another visit to Science!
Riley really likes to watch craters being made.
She also likes maps more than just about anything, and this one is interactive.*
*Interactive in that semi-functional museum way where stuff never really works like it should and nothing has instructions that make sense.
This was some kind of exhibit about infrared something or other.*
*See footnote above.
Every time we go to the Discovery Zone, big sis rushes over to the Smell Game.
Smells like …
… VICTORY.
Riley has already mastered this rock-putting game.
See?
Beach Grandma watched me climb this stuff …
… while dad pointed the camera at me …
… and I even looked in his general direction sometimes.
See that fake dirt on my hand?
That dirt right there?
It means there’s ‘Tology going on.
See?
Dig dig dig.
I’m finding dinos!
An afternoon of dino-finding leaves me hungry for some nutritious lettuce.
CHOMP.
You can really taste the high water content!
This is what a dinosaur looks like on the inside.
Riley got to touch a real dino tooth and ask the nice lady all sorts of precocious questions.
Then we went to Vicious Fishes and she got to do some art.
PANCAKE FISH!

Dad really likes this photo of my big sis, so it’s the first one he’s showing today. All of these are from the Denver Botanic Gardens.*
*Per Riley: “Tannic Gardens”
Big sis noticed something hiding in that hollow log!
It’s a marmot!
Marmots are great, but they won’t make Riley forget about her lollipop.
CHOMP.
The children’s rooftop at the Tannic Gardens has a really cool nest filled with eggs …
… and my new friends Eagle and Squirrel.
Hold on, Squirrel …
… here you go!*
*”Here you go” was one of the first things I ever said.
Here you go!
Big sis came along to inspect me.
SHE IS INSPECTING YOU NOW.
All in all, it was a good day for inspecting.
See?
Riley really loves to walk in this mini-creek every time we go here.
She also has dad’s penchant for experimenting with optics.
Smells sprucey!
Looks sprucey too.
Big sis has already learned that nothing good can come from the imperative “Smell me.”
Dad shot this one because Riley told him to.

Science* is my favorite place to go …
*Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
… and Discovery Zone on the second floor is my favorite place there.
Little sis likes it too.
She likes to get plopped in the ‘tologist zone and dig for dinos.
I like to stick out my tongue when I concentrate now.
It’s my new thing.
My second-favorite place in Science is Outer Space. I’m making craters here …
… and I will dock this spaceship one of these days.
