Category: Both Cubs

To celebrate the birthday of fireworks, we went to the zoo.

Riley said we needed to start off with a light snack.*

*One of everything.

Dad kept squeezing her–probably so she wouldn’t pack all the zoo food into her tummy.

Then it was time for some marching, of course.

Choosing a lollipop is serious business.

One last hand-washing in the family restroom …

… one last attempt to scare the kangaroos with a lion costume …

… and it was time to go.

We went to the Dinosaur Bones Place* yesterday.

Riley copied my slide style.

Since she knows how to walk, she also did other stuff.

There’s this really cool exhibit where you run on a path and it records your every move.

Here you can see Riley and Riley surrounding Dad as he runs like a monkey. (You will not see this anywhere else in the world.)

DINOSAUR BONES!

Riley knows how to use touchscreens …

… so she did some of that too.

I, on the other hand, showed off my gator-rasslin’ skills.

Riley tried being a TOLOGIST* for a few minutes.

Science!

Nature and Science!

We tried to go to the farm last weekend, but they’re not open on Sundays.

That was sad.

They were open today, though, and some kid left this totally awesome bike that–much to everyone’s surprise–I pretty much knew how to ride.

I also took turns on the Human Centrifuge with this big kid …

… and of course there were the goats.

Zoe got to ride Cookie the pony.

She liked that a lot.

I got to ride Cookie too …

… and I liked it a lot.

Zoe had to go through rigorous training before she got her pony license.

She was all “Pony license?!?”

But she was happy when she finally got it.

Cock-a-doo!

It had been years since we’d been to the zoo, so …

I brought my bear (named Tiger) along to see what’s new there.

One word: Hats.

Tiger liked checking out the polar bears.

This, however, is not a polar bear.

This is a giant snapping turtle that used to scare me when I was a little kid. I’m cool with her now.

This bird chews gum and blows bubbles out of her nose.

This Zoe doesn’t chew gum at all …

… but she eats black beans now.

Here she is showing you what a black bean is.

Here she is eating one.

Ha! I was doing that years ago!

Youngsters these days.

Zoe takes this stuff personally now.

To demonstrate her maturity, she counts her beans (but not out loud).

I don’t realize it, but dad gave Zoe some of this quesadilla when I wasn’t paying attention!

This is her “How you like me now?” look.
